Trauma expertise for Iran

In April an intensive training workshop on Narrative Exposure Therapy (NET) was hold at the University of Isfahan, Iran. The faculty of Education and Psychology of the University of Isfahan hosted the NET workshop, which was conducted by vivo member Dr. Mina Orang.

Twenty participants, including master and PhD students in counselling and psychology, clinical psychologists, lecturers, and professors at the department of counselling in the University of Isfahan attended the workshop, learned about traumatic stress and its impact on brain and organism’s coping mechanisms, Posttraumatic Stress Disorder, NET step by step treatment procedure, and dissociation and its implications in NET intervention, and practiced NET techniques in several large and small groups through observation, role play, and supervision. Most participants were enthusiastic about participating in the training workshop, as either they had to deal with traumatized clients in their daily clinical work or were interested to conduct a scientific research on trauma and relevant therapeutic methods.
