In 2016, vivo international and Psychologues sans Frontières Burundi are collaborating with the Fondation Stamm and burundikids in a project to reintegrate street children in Burundi. This project is funded by the Stiftung für Entwicklunsgzusammenarbeit (Foundation of development aid). In this project the children receive medical, legal and psychological assistance preparing them to and supporting them when returning to their families. During the visit a lot was going on: The Burundian colleagues met regularly with the children discussing ongoing difficulties, such as violence or consuming drugs, the situation of the families and the intended reintegration. Furthermore, they organized the medical assistance of the children and discussed which child needs psychological assistance evaluating the results of diagnostic interviews. The team also organized a workshop to discuss with the Burundian colleagues how to proceed approaching the families of the street children and which difficulties could be expected.

Team discussions

Since the start of the center of psychotraumatology, the Burundian colleagues completed several therapies.
